About the Client
The Indian Institute of Carpet Technology, Srinagar has been established by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India and Industries and Commerce Department, Govt. of Jammu and Kashmir to provide technical support to the regional carpet industry through Human Resource Development, Design Development, Research & Development and other Technical Services and Facilities.
About The Project
GTI has collaborated with the Indian Institute of Carpet Technology (IICT) to enhance the traceability and authenticity of Kashmiri hand-knotted carpets. GTI is providing a comprehensive Track and Trace solution that includes the implementation of a cloud-based QR code management system. This system assigns unique QR codes to each carpet, enabling real-time access to detailed product information such as origin, artisan details, and manufacturing specifics. By scanning these QR codes, consumers can verify the authenticity and quality of the carpets, ensuring transparency and trust. Additionally, GTI’s solution supports compliance with the Geographical Indications of Goods Act, 1999, by providing verifiable proof that each carpet meets the required standards, thereby protecting the heritage and reputation of Kashmiri hand-knotted carpets. This collaboration aims to preserve traditional craftsmanship while leveraging modern technology to enhance marketability and consumer confidence.
